About This Product
This is a purple-coloured vinyl LP pressing of Rat Saw God by Wednesday. A Wednesday song is like a quilt—a collection of short stories and half-memories, piecing together portraits of the American South. Karly Hartzman, the band's songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist, is as much a collector of stories as she is a storyteller, crafting songs with a keen eye for detail and empathy. Rat Saw God, the Asheville quintet’s latest and most compelling record, blends autobiographical insights with an ekphrastic approach, all set against a backdrop of wailing 90s shoegaze and classic country twang. The album’s ten tracks, driven by Hartzman, guitarist MJ Lenderman, bassist Margo Shultz, drummer Alan Miller, and lap/pedal steel player Xandy Chelmis, explore the tragic and funny minutiae of life in North Carolina, with distorted lap steel and Hartzman’s voice cutting through the noise.
