About This Product
This is a vinyl LP pressing of "Open Sesame" by Freddie Hubbard. Released in 1960, it was Hubbard’s first album as a leader, marking a significant milestone in his career. Prior to this, Hubbard had participated in many recordings as a sideman, beginning with his debut on "The Montgomery Brothers and Five Others" in 1957. "Open Sesame" also featured pianist McCoy Tyner, who was just starting his iconic tenure with the John Coltrane Quartet, and saxophonist Tina Brooks, with whom Hubbard would collaborate again only once more for Brooks’ album "True Blue." While Hubbard’s previous works as a sideman were notable, "Open Sesame" was pivotal in helping him establish his own musical voice and overcome his influences.
