About This Product
This is a Blue Note Classic vinyl LP pressing of Go! by Dexter Gordon.
Recorded in 1962, Go! captures Dexter Gordon at a pivotal moment in his career. Having made a significant impact on jazz in the 1940s as one of the first to bring the bebop style to the tenor saxophone, Gordon faced a decade of personal challenges that slowed his output. However, his signing with Blue Note in 1961 marked a triumphant return, resulting in a series of essential recordings. Go! features an exceptional quartet with Sonny Clark on piano, Butch Warren on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums. The album showcases Gordon's boundless creativity, from the hard-swinging energy of tracks like "Cheese Cake" to a dynamic rendition of "Love for Sale." It also highlights his unmatched ability to interpret ballads, with stunning performances on "I Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry" and "Where Are You?".
