This is a vinyl LP pressing of Nina Simone's early recordings, presented in a limited edition red vinyl. Featuring newly prepared liner notes by Penguin Guide to Jazz writer Brian Morton and Jazz Magazine, this release includes her 1957 debut album, Little Girl Blue—where she accompanied herself on piano with Jimmy Bond (bass) and Albert "Tootie" Heath (drums)—as well as her 1959 breakthrough live recording, Nina Simone at Town Hall, backed by Wilbur Ware (bass) and Ben Riley (drums). The album features timeless classics such as "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair," "The Other Woman," and a stunning rendition of "Summertime."
