About This Product
This is a limited 2021 reissue coloured vinyl LP pressing of Orchards/Lupine (Strawberry Vinyl) by Dewolff. Strange Fruits And Undiscovered Plants was full of influences from Cream, Deep Purple, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix. That squishy psychedelic blues-rock comes back tantalizingly good on Orchards/Lupine, but DeWolff is above all a lot further along here. Organist Robin Piso, who fortunately still goes full on his Hammond, has in the meantime also discovered the mellotron. This is evident on Diamonds, Higher Than The Sun and Poison, which betray influences from the prog rock of the early King Crimson and Pink Floyd. Love In C Minor and Seashell Woman then end with booming guitars that Black Sabbath can envy, while Fever echoes the treacherous lightness of the Beatles' late work. Highlights of this record are drawn-out songs like Diamonds, Everything Everywhere and The Pistol, where these guys really show what they can do musically. Because that is the strength of DeWolff: although they hark back to all that wonderful music from the late sixties and early seventies, they make it their own, kaleidoscopic sound. With which these youngsters show that you can still brew a fresh sound from all those old influences decades later.
